I was tasked with updating the layout and design of a grade 12 math course (MAP4C) to the current TVO.me style guide. The following example is one section of a learning activity within a larger course.
The content in the original course contained the following issues:
the stock photo did not align with the current style guide
the accordion contained 12 tabs (maximum of eight tabs is ideal for learners)
very little content was contained within each tab (Is it worth the click?)
The following image is the original course content prior to redesign.
The revised design addressed the issues by:
placing the terms from the original accordion into the copy of a rental apartment ad
requesting a new art asset containing the ad copy
placing the asset into an interactive component where students click on a term to view the definition
The new component allows students to engage with the terms in a real world context. The following image depicts the layout of the revised design of the original Common terminology in real estate advertisements section.
